I personally know John Curtis and have seen his Lionheart under construction
as he isbased at my home airport in Bremerton, Washington. John is lucky
to be alive. If he would have landed with the tail coming aroundthe other
direction; the collapsed gear would have punctured the left fuel tank and
the door is on the left side of the plane. That would be certainly a
terrible burning experience. For your information the lionheart is mostly
fiberglass nomex core not carbon fiber. The wing spars are glass and carbon
composite.
I'm grateful he is still around to fly another day.
