Walter, I can second Ted's silicone testimony. Where my SCAT leaves the
filtered air intake and runs against the inside of the cowling I was getting
a slow abrasion at the wire in the SCAT. By putting a couple of parallel
beads of high temp RTV (I used the orange colored stuff from Trak Auto) on
the tubing I have had no indications of abrasion since. (I think Mike
DeHate was the one who recommended this to me, so you have that from two
A&Ps.)
Ted's recommendation on using silicone baffling material sounds great as
well and I can think of at least one place where the RTV won't work as well
that I want to try using the baffling.
