Where my SCAT leaves the filtered air intake and runs against the inside of the cowling I was getting a slow abrasion at the wire in the SCAT. By putting a couple of parallel beads of high temp RTV (I used the orange colored stuff from Trak Auto) on the tubing I have had no indications of abrasion since. (I think Mike DeHate was the one who recommended this to me, so you have that from two A&Ps.) Ted's recommendation on using silicone baffling material sounds great as well and I can think of at least one place where the RTV won't work as well that I want to try using the baffling.
