Gentlemen,

Quite a few posts have been written about controlling cabin temps in the IVP due to the pressurized air temps.

I had my A&P install the third intercooler (which we were told was not needed since we had A/C) and in addition had him install fire shielding around the SCAT tubing which directs the airflow to and from the intercooler.

The result is a substantial amount of reduction in the heat exchange between the red hot exhaust and the tubes taking the intercooled air to the pressurization valve.  I estimate about 25F cooler air as a result of the fire shield!

The fire shield is about $10/ft from Spruce but the result is a panel temp inside 40 F lower!

By the way, the folks that sell the A/C tell you the third intercoller is not needed but remember it doesn't geta ll that hot in OR anyway!

Between the intercooler, the fire shield, the aerogold window tint and the A/C I think we may have a IVP which is actually comfortable.

Crossing the rockys this weekend so should have actual combat conditions to report thereafter.

Regards,

Dave Riggs
