Apr 16 Aviation Week and Space Technology has a great article on WAAS (pg.
48).  "About two dozen ground reference stations measure GPS and ionospheric
errors, which are transmitted to geostationary satellites, and then relayed
to users."   "One obvious shortcoming of the current system is its reliance
on only two geostationary satellites for transmitting integrity and
correction messages.  A single failure would cut off services to about half
of the continental U.S."
