Bottom line - Lanacair had by FAR the best prices on a new engine. Apparently, the engines they have for sale at such good prices were destined to be installed on an airplane manufactured somewhere in eastern Europe, like Yugoslavia (can't remember the airplane name). Someone checked the engine designation for me and cross referenced to the airframe maker. We guessed it had something to do with all the fighting/civil wars over there, that they are unable to produce the planes.... I don't know this is true, just pieced together some information. If you need an engine reasonably soon, you better order now. It takes awhile to get one, and they raise prices based on delivery date. So getting an engine in 1999 will probably mean a 1999 price, not the current 1998 price. Matt
