Hell, yes! For all the outstanding customer service that Lancair provides,
and they do a lot of it, this is one area where they fall flat on their face.
It pisses me off to think how much time I've spent devising solutions to
problems which they know about and every builder before me has had to
struggle with. I don't mind doing corrective work nearly so much as I mind
puzzling out how to solve it (on the other hand, it gives me something to
think about during those boring meetings at work...)
On the positive side, when I ask for help they come back instantly with "Oh,
yes, here's how you do that", which is wonderful. I can understand why
errors built into hard tooling may need to be tolerated and fixed by the
builder, but why not give us a heads-up that they are there in the first
place?
This is where this e-mail forum and the written newsletters are most
valuable. And this is where the instant-access (or nearly so) factory help
is indispensable. God knows we need them!
I said this several years ago and I'll say it again. Wouldn't it be easier
to post the answer to a question once, rather than answer it 200 times for
each succeeding buildr who gets that far???
- Rob Wolf, once again pissing off people on both sides of the issue....
