If I were doing it over, however, I think that I would use a different method. You probably have had the same thoughts as I have concerning the non-removable screens in the wing tank. What if they work? How could you possibly clean them and remove the offending gunk? Frankly, I don't think that you could. If I had it to do over again, I'd put in flanges that would accept the screw-in finger strainers and route the fuel lines through the aft portion of the wheel well and into the fus under the seats. The finger strainers accept AN fittings and you could build the system with hard line. This would also avoid routing the fuel along the crowded fwd spar area where the aileron push rods go. If a screen clogged, you'd have a better chance of getting it cleaned off. Another possibility would be to put in the fuel pick-up lines with no strainer in the tank and route the fuel through a strainer or filter somewhere downstream. No matter how you build the system, the ultimate answer is to make sure that you're getting clean fuel going into the tank and strain the fuel, if necessary, before it goes in.
