be dead wrong. All of your airspeed limitations are based on IAS --indicated
airspeed or Mach and not groundspeed. Vne. Vno, Va, Vs etc. so if you don't
know, or don't care you could inadvertently overspeed your airplane, stall
your airplane,  or otherwise hurt your airplane-- and therefore yourself.

If you had an engine out you would want to fly best glide speed or best L/D
max AOA.

Your landing gear and flaps care what speed you put them down and up.

If you are going to fly efficiently then you also need to know Vx, Vy for
climb situations.

TAS matters, too. It is the "no wind" speed your aircraft is flying. Flight
planning is generally done "no wind"  with an eye toward winds aloft
forecasts.  

So if you just use groundspeed ---then what do you use for the above
situations?
