Paul,
How would you like 440 HP? Run it at its most efficient fuel flow via FADEC
with redundant electronic computer control. No LOP/ROP worries. Have faith
in a TBO engine (750 hours on prototype – inspections showing little if any
breakdown). Have water-cooling with only a ~20lb weight penalty over IO-550.
Use about 19GPH at cruise while going 20-30kts faster than the IV with
Continental BEFORE the Continental gives up HP to LOP/ROP adjustments.
Two of these are flying – one just won the grand champion award at Sun n
Fun. Over five years of testing on the prototype has proven the concept.
Only problem to date has been production blues. Those are over now and
engines are available with 6-month lead time (first deliveries towards the
end of this year).
Price is about the same as the Continental, but operating costs are
considerably less and overhaul costs are about 1/3.
Factory will do the mounting and dressing of your engine, so the
installation is not overwhelming.
The engine of course is the EPS V8. See website at:

Since you’ll be unpressurized and want speed, talk with Fred Moreno at
Fmoreno@direcpc.com <mailto:Fmoreno@direcpc.com> ; He has the same
objective as you and will be using the EPS V8.

John Barrett, CARBINGE
