Thanks for the information.
Why use less plies for the nose gear?

That is what the aircraft designers determined to be correct and proper. I
expect the main reason is that in a normal landing the first touch down is
on the main gear so you need a heavier tire. The nose wheel does not have
to withstand as much abuse.
