I've noticed that these fittings with NPT threads are only able to be
inserted about half (usually less) of thread depth before significant
resistance is encountered.  This will cause problems with things like the
installation of the sump drain valve.  Is this fit normal?  Do you just tap
these things to get the additional thread depth?
