It seems to work very well with one end attached to the baggage compartment ceiling, and the other end attached to the forward hinge. We used ball mounts at both ends. The gas strut is available from Napa part # BK.819-5583. When doing this installation the hinges need to be more securely attached to the baggage door, we found extra bids were not enough. We also needed to create a small phenolic gusset to extend the base of the aluminum hinge.
