My sincerest sympathy goes to his family. I first met Tony in the middle of May. I had responded to a posting he had placed in LML re: an "A" kit he had available. I remember it well, as it was on a Sunday morning, and I was on the way out the door to fly to Lancair to complete negotations on an ES. We had time to exchange cell numbers. By the time I got to Portland, I had a voice mail message from him. He volunteered to pick me up at Lancair in his plane, fly me to Seattle to see the parts he had, and fly me back to Lancair. We agreed to meet at the Seattle airport Monday night on my way back to California instead. He was waiting for me at the gate. He gave me a complete photo album of the work accomlished so far, and I gave him a deposit. Over the last few weeks, we've exchanged numerous emails, and numerous phone calls. I was going to Seattle this Thursday. He had volunteered to pick me up at the airport, drive me to Ryder to pick up a truck, and help me load the parts he had there. I would then drive to Lancair to pick up my "B" kit and his wings, which were already mated to my fuselage. Although I did not know him well, I know I've lost a good friend. He was always ready to "go the extra mile" to help me, a first time builder. He had even volunteered to fly here to do the FAA inspections for me. Tony will be missed by me as well as the rest of the aviation community.
