Rick Schrameck (and anyone else interested),
You mentioned that you would probably make a baggage door out of a rear
window if you were to build another Legacy. The more I look at it, the
better I like that idea. Now I'm giving it serious consideration. I was
wondering what your thoughts were on the best approach.

I was thinking I might go ahead and bond the Plexiglas then cut out about a
two inch picture frame around the window. Do a tape release from behind
(before cutting the frame completely out) to create about a 3/4 inch lip,
leaving enough gap for a weather strip to fit in between the frame and the
lip. Stiffen up the frame with some foam and carbon around the window
perimeter. Attach a hinge to the top so the door swings up and out of the
way. Is this similar to what you had in mind? I'm also concerned about
structural integrity. Could cutting the larger hole weaken the fuselage or
take away enough stiffness that tail flutter could become a concern? Do you
think the additional wt. that far aft might cause a W&B problem?
