The mag compass in the DC8 was viewed in a mirror reflection.  The compass
was mounted BEHIND the crew.  There's alot of room for something like this
on the roll over part of the canopy.  All one would have to do is be able to
read it backwards.  Of course, you would be able to "check 6" for bandits
... all at the same time.
