A Lancair 235 is a hot complex aircraft. An article on AOPA magazine states that in general single-engine aircraft with retractable gear and 201 or less HP requires 500 hours total time and 100 hours in retractable gear. The Lancair being a kit might raise those requirements. This actually scared the hell out of me (I'm building a Lancair 360) with 185 hrs and just a couple hrs retract time. But I'm ready to fly with an instructor for whatever time necessary.
