Scott Krueger describes what I understand to be the case from my FSDO with
minor
modifications, that we can sign them off ourselves.  In addition, I was
told by my
Avionics shop that the subject of GPS IFR certification is grey and that
his FSDO
doesn't get involved for experimental aircraft.  In other words, put it in,
make sure
it works, and go fly.  Unfortunately, even though the panel was built by
professionals and the GPS is a GX-60, I've had trouble with it.  We think
it was a
board problem and UPS replaced that under warranty.  Signoff or no signoff,
I will
certainly treat it with suspicion until it proves itself through hours of
trouble
free operation.
