In addition, I was told by my Avionics shop that the subject of GPS IFR certification is grey and that his FSDO doesn't get involved for experimental aircraft. In other words, put it in, make sure it works, and go fly. Unfortunately, even though the panel was built by professionals and the GPS is a GX-60, I've had trouble with it. We think it was a board problem and UPS replaced that under warranty. Signoff or no signoff, I will certainly treat it with suspicion until it proves itself through hours of trouble free operation.
