You need to have some receiver test equipment to really test the system, but you could troubleshoot according to what I said before. 1. Eliminate the cable as the bad component by buying a premade length of cable. You can either buy an off the shelf, or have a cable made. 2. I would suggest that you make or buy the cable that is at least 10 inches longer or shorter. Sometimes the length of the antenna cable can be a bad thing. It's known as a mismatch. 3. If the cabel thing doesn't work, hook another antenna to the installed cable. If it works fine, replace the installed antenna with the new one. If it doesn't work, hook the new antenna to the new cable and see it that works. 4. If steps 1 thru 3 don't indicate the bad component, replace the nav radio with a known good one. You essentially have three components in the system, the antenna, the cable, and the radio. Use the process of elimination to find the bad component. Sometimes a bad connection can't be found via the human eye. Another idea would be to find a local ham radio shop and see if a local ham might be willing to help you. Good luck.
