Hi There:

I am a IV-P builder in Tracy, CA .  Engine installation complete. Now working
on pressure door before glueing on top.  Hope to fly by summer.

Can you explain exactly what "carbon gills" are?  This is a new term that I
am not familar with.   Years ago, the factory was selling metal vents to be
installed under the turbo's for cooling but, I now understand that with
proper sealing, engine cooling doesnt seem to be the problem it once was.

As far as cabin  cooling goes, the engine mfgr (TCM) sells a bracket to hang
a A/C compressor on the back of the engine. I understand that it is for the
"Malibu".   Since cockpit heat soak on a hot day can make the cabin
unbearable in any aircraft and since air entering the cabin is, at a
minimum,1.11 times ambient, (says a factory engineer),  I elected to install
air conditioning.  A light weight evaporator is located on an aft bulkhead
and feeds the cabin thru the overhead ducts.  The A/C only operates until the
cabin is pressurized.  Its a pretty simple system but I havent fired it up
so I do not have any factual info yet .

Regards, Bill Hogarty
