I know of one pilot that tried in Idaho and had to have his plane towed out on
a trailer. Collapsed the nose gear on landing. Ouch. Would you take your
Ferrari off roading? I don't think so.
Practice and use those mains only landings. You should always be able to lower
the nose, after touchdown, in a controlled fashion. Remember the landing gear
drop test? It is a vertical drop with no side loads. These are airplanes, not
tanks! Land them like you have a dozen eggs on the seat or you will have them
on your face.
