Curtis:
I am confused by you position. You seem to be saying that you should have
the freedom to do whatever you want but that others should not. In this case
Garmin. Doesn't Garmin have the same freedoms that you do? Garmin is, after
all, a CORPOration, literally a "body" under the law.
Garmin offers a product to the market. To acquire that product you must
exchange a sum of money AND agree to have it installed by a Garmin approved
shop. This agreement is part of the price. You are free to pay it or not.
You are NOT free to unilaterally change the price or terms. Garmin is NOT a
bad company for setting the price. A boycott would be an exercise in denying
a freedom to one entity while giving it to another. While it is not uncommon
for people to want their freedoms to supersede those of others, it is never
a good idea.
As homebuilders we enjoy considerable freedom in being able to build heavy
objects that we suspend over other people's heads. I think we should be the
last people to call for the restriction of others. Do unto others and all.
Hamid is right. You don't want to see that. I don't know why. Maybe it is
cultural.
Regards,
Brent Regan
