Once your hydraulic system is assembled but before you fill it with fluid,
install a T fitting in place of the Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) and connect it
to shop air. If you pressurize the entire system and then isolate it with a
good valve you can leak test it without all the mess of dripping oil. Use a
brush and some of your kid's bubble blowing liquid to check every fitting for
"slow leaks".

BTW, The "Red Oil" MIL-H-5606 has an additive Tricresylphosphate (sp) which is
a carcinogen so keep your gloves on.
