Here's my latest 'favorite' tool:

Get a Dremmel with a flexible shaft.  Mounted (via bid tapes and rivets) the 'wand' of the shaft 90
degrees to an 8" metal plate.  

To make long straight cuts, heat glue a metal ruler to the surface to be cut and run the "wand
plate" down it like a router guide.  TaTa long straight cuts.
