The undercoat of smooth prime shrunk up after only about 1 year and he had to strip the entire plane and start over. I would stick with the WLS Primer even though it is a bit hard to sand (it really isn't that hard to sand). I apply the first coat of WLS with a squeegee, let it dry, sand it down, spray WLS again. That protects the body work. When I am ready for paint, I will sand again, apply PPG primer, sand until I get as perfect a finish as possible, then spray on the color...or something close to that order.
