Good thought Ted.  That's the first solution I looked for.  Unfortunately,
swaging the fittings on the end of the DH line is a very high tech process.
The outside covering over the inner braided part will blow up like an
anuerism if you try some sort of builder applied fitting on the end.  You
have to get it from the factory with the fittings attached on both ends.
Note that the brake end comes with a steel tube on the end and you would
purchase a fitting from Swagelok to attach after the tubing is run through
the gear leg.

BTW - we're talking L IV models for the trunnion pins.
