Jim et al,

Our EAA Chapter #1026 has a set of the inexpensive scales - under $300 as I
recall.  They are made up of three simple bathroom scales and a fulcrum
operated pad you place the a/c wheels on.  Then you either double or triple
the readings obtained depending on which notched position on rail you use as
the fulcrum point.

It's very simple and straightforward and, while certainly not as accurate as
a strainguage scale, it gives a repeatable result that seems to be useful.

I used it to reweigh a Piper Twin Commanche and several friends have weighed
their homebuilts with it.  We were all comfortable with the results.

If you are in an active EAA chapter, it might be a good way to purchase this
piece of equip.

Regards,
John Barrett.
