BTW, today's LML included an official Lancair comment on the inadvisability of removal of the pivot pin to facilitate placement of alternative brake lines into the gear leg. Also note that Lancair apparently has no record of nylaflow fracture problems. Ted, We see nothing unsafe whatsoever with this installation. Perhaps Brent is worried about kinking the line in the gear leg and indeed one must exercise care during assembly to avoid such a possibility. Once anchored down and then throughout service, this is not an issue and never has been during the ten years of in service history. A larger diameter line would require removing the pressed in axle shaft in the leg and we do not recommend this at all.
