My header tank has been removed from the fuselage to give my interior guy
room to install my new interior (finally!!) so I decided that now is a good
time to install an automatic fuel transfer system. I have decided to
purchase Pillar Point's fuel management system:
Controller: XFR-12/24K = $159.95
Sensors: FSD-12/24 = 69.95 each (two required)
Briefly, as mentioned on this list before, the low-sensor will detect a low
fuel level in the header tank (approx 7-8 gallons) and send a signal to the
controller to start pumping. When the hi-sensor submerges in fuel, another
signal is sent to the controller to stop pumping. In addition, when the wing
tanks run dry, the controller will automatically stop the pumps.
Has anybody here actually installed the system described above? If so, I'd
like to know the position of your 'high-level' FSD sensor installation
relative to the header tank 'lip'. I was planning on bonding an AL flange
about 1/2" from the header tank 'lip' to the center of the flange.
I plan to use my existing 'low-level' position where a float switch used to
be but the existing 'hi-level' position is located too low on the header
tank. I now have to drill a new hole and bond an AL flange for the
'high-level' FSD sensor.
