This procedure is not recommended, either by Lancair or the manufacturer of the landing gear legs and trunnion assemblies. These parts are assembled hot and with a bearing mount Loctite. Driving the pin out destroys the Loctite, probably the plating on the pin, and since the alum is cold when the pin is driven, rather than hot as installed, the pin may not then be as tight it was originally.
