I need help. I've closed my wings and am currently filling,
blending and sanding in preparation for primer. I have no
body work experience and I fill like I may be wasting a lot
of time.
If looked at with the naked eye down the length of the wings
they appear to very strait and flat, but when checked with
a three foot strait edge there are small and gradual dips
between the ribs. These are most visible on the inboard 1/2
and forward 1/3 of the bottoms of the wings. When measured
with a 1 foot strait edge these imperfections are not detectible.
My Question is: Do I need to fill these or am I wasting my time
and adding unnecessary weight? The depressions are about 1/16"
deep at about 1/3 back from the leading edge to as much as about
3/32" about 3" back from the leading edge. The leading edge
itself is completely strait. On the top of the wing it is much
less. Also, how far back from the wing tips should I blend
them end.
I have already purchases a gallon of smooth prime, but after
reading Jim Cameron's [Spell] report on his experience with
it, most notably it's never ending curing, I'm thinking of
throwing it out. Has any body else that has finish painting
there plane had the same experience.
Thanks
Mark Lally
