The base of the antenna must be situated to contact the carbon portion of the wing to obtain your ground plane. The antenna should be fastened to either the inside top or bottom of the winglet/tip, with the grounding strip of the antenna sandwiched between the wing tip and the carbon fiber wing (conductive) which provides your ground.
