Please confirm, or otherwise explain the $40K price tag quoted in the e-mail below. Is this my cost for a factory rebuilt 601E (with the expectation/guarantee of 2000 hrs. TBO....from date of rebuild) on top of the IV kit price + $7.5K someone recently talked about on this forum to accommodate the powerplant, plus, naturally, the cost of a mated prop? OR....... Is this my cost of a factory rebuilt that is guaranteed to go to 2000 hrs. (total hours), from the time it was originally put into service? If so, what is/was the (average?) time in service prior to the rebuild of the engines the writer is talking about? Simply put, what number of hours are we buying with the $40K? OR..... Is this my cost of "my" engine sent to Walter for rebuild? And if so, what can I expect to pay (in the open market) for an acceptably rebuildable engine to Walter (operative words herein)......found on my own????.....or with/through the help of the Lancair factory????? Would appreciate detailed explanation of exactly what the writer had in mind with the $40K quote. In parting, as one having no particular relationship to have to protect with TCM (but with a reasonable amount of operational experience in maintenance and flight operations with a variety of aviation reciprocating and turbine powerplants), "reliability" in favor of the turbine is but scratching the surface of the significant difference between the two (in favor of the turbine.....quite naturally!) and grossly minimizes quite a few other, equally as, or possibly even more, important attributes provided by the turbine powerplant in aviation applications. Cost, obviously is not/has not been to date one of these. At $40K, it is looking highly attractive! Looking very much to the clarification sought above. Thanks in advance. Total overhauls are about 40,000, maybe less." ............ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
