Subject: RE: IVP w/ Walter engine
Mr. Hileman,
We will be using the Walter's 601E turbine engine from the Czech Republic
with the Lancair IV-P. The fuel capacity will remain at 110 gallons total,
and there has been talk of adding a fuel bladder somewhere in the belly or
cowling of the aircraft, but nothing has been decided on. The only
structural changes have been to the firewall, which now has an inverted
circular area designed to accommodate the longer/heavier turbine engine. We
also have a completely redesigned engine mount for the turbine that pulls
the nose gear out from the fuselage about 8 inches. These two additions are
now available with any new IV-P kits for $7,500 and include the cowling. We
are in the process of building our own turbine IV-P that we hope to have
flying by Oshkosh this year. Because of this we do not have any performance
statistics of a Walter's engine on a Lancair IV-P. We do also offer a
retrofit kit for IV-P kit's already in the building process for $8,500. If
you have further questions, please feel free to contact me.
Best Regards,
Heidie L. Henriksen
