    There's plenty of legal precedent that says that the results of publicly
funded research belong to the public.  What Williams appears to be doing
with Eclipse seems to me to be a straightforward theft of (intellectual)
property paid for by taxpayers' money.  However, based on Eric Ahlstrom's
very enlightening posting today, maybe we should just let them get away with
it!
