On my report, I also stated that the Lancair had a Don George Lyc IO-320. Michael, owner of the Lancair, recently returned home and had the opportunity to inspect his plane in more detail. What he found was very interesting. Apparently, a piece of foam, used to cover the air inlet cowling holes found it's way through the ram air opening, blocking air flow to the throttle servo! We did not get a chance to run the engine again due to ice and snow blocking the hanger door, but we are almost certain this caused the engine failure. I would like to also apoligize to Don George for what he may have perceived as a bad rap on his good name by me mentioning the source of the engine on this Lancair. I was merely mentioning the facts during the time of my original post, not intended to point blame on anything or anybody.
