It's even simpler than was stated here. "Chicago center, Lancair _______ has begun an emergency descent to 10,000'"But, the first step was to don the oxygen mask. (A "quick doning mask" even better.)During the descent, ATC can assist you with a vector for terrain, but then there is time for such niceties as you are crow baring to earth. This is a true emergency and no pleases or requests or thank you's are in order and only get in the way.ATC works for us.
