HI THERE
i have become dependent on the ipad. cheaper and better than Jepp charts i have to admit that i do subscribe to the NE and SE Jepp charts as that is much of my flying
but i have had concern on long flights fly for four hours, stop and have lunch and check email and the weather and suddenly the ipad is getting low when i get back in the Lancair.
A: REDUNDANCY i bought a second ipad and keep it turned off and in reserve; that way i've got an extra eight hours of navigation
SHOOTING APPROACHES GPS APPROACHES embarrassingly easy; there you are looking at the chart with a little airplane showing your path ILS i actually do not pay a lot of attention to the moving airplane as i am hard on the gauges but, I've got all the charts right there
AND if you are worried about losing your page; make a copy and it will be there with your photos for ever (press the two buttons at the same time and you will capture what is on the screen and it will be saved to the photo file on the ipad)
TWO IPADS IS CHEAP INSURANCE
CHARGING IN FLIGHT i have not been pleased with the charge rate using the cigarette lighter plug, when using the ipad with ForeFlight. i does seem to more or less keep up with the usage but not always
OVERHEATING happened to me and i did not like it. the solution was simple, do not leave the ipad on the glare shield...then no more problem
