hi there

NUTS

have you ever done a stall in a Lancair IV??

I had Len Fox do an evaluation of my Lancair IV before i flew it. i wanted to know what i had or didn't HAD

my IVP rotates 110 degrees in either direction, after the stall. not some thing to mess with.

and by a "deep" stall, i assume that  you mean a power on stall. GOD NO.

INSTEAD STAY FOCUSED AND MOVE ON.

OR
now if you had stalled your Lancair IV forty or fifty times and knew what to expect (you would be a test pilot)
by the way, Don Goetz  crashed 27 times in various airplanes.

AND

When you get on the ground alive, think about the $20,000 part that costs $60.00, that would have automatically put you nose gear down

THE IDEA IS TO BE SAFE AND PRACTICAL IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, NOT CRAZY

In the olden days, Don Goetz reported that he did something similar to what you suggested, only I don't think it was necessarily a stall; He just pulled up into a nose-high attitude until the airspeed bled off, then pushed over to let gravity lock the NLG down. It seems like having an AoA system would help to keep one from stalling during that maneuver.

What about climbing to some high altitude and doing a steep stall in the hopes of reducing the forward motion of the plane so the nose gear will come down and lock over center.
