We rarely need to get the fuselage dead-nuts level.  We do this by using
water levels and reference marks, digitial inclinometers, laser theodolites,
and all other sorts of things to get the fuselage as level as humanly
possible.  (No I don't use lasers.  I use the water level.)

Quite often we need to make the fuselage "mostly level".  This would be to
enable use of a simple bubble level so that our brackets, subfloors, flap
motor enclosures, console covers, and other such items are reasonably level.
No critical alignments here -- it just needs to look good.

I discovered, when I painstakingly leveled my fuselage, that the longerons
aren't exactly flat or level everywhere.  However, there is a "sweet spot"
where my digital inclinometer reads 0.0 degrees when the fuselage is
dead-nuts level.  When I need a "close to level" reference, I put my
inclinometer on the "sweet spot" and either tilt the fuselage to be level, or
bond in the bracket, cover, etc so that it is at the same angle as the "sweet
spot".

You can use this technique for "approximately level" in the roll axis, too,
but you need a 4 foot level to put across the longerons.

Some other guys have bonded on those 1" diameter bubble levels when their
fuselage is dead-nuts level and use that as a handy reference.  That's a good
idea, too.  Maybe someone can tell me where to get one.
