The jack points on an IV are attached to the front of the main spar box. There is no area on the bottom of the fuselage forward of the spar box that can take the weight of a “full up” airplane. Moving the jack points forward would require adding weight to reinforce them…

My opinion…

On my L IV the jack points are slightly forward of the CG.  Maybe 10 or 15 lbs on the rear jack stand.

It most certainly varies with the individual a/c.

I have often wondered why the main jack points are aft of the CG requiring weight on the tail for jacking.
Why not just move the jack points forward ?

Does anyone have the plans/materials specs on how to build the rolling bucket of cement for the tail stand?

I had ran across it in the plans and can’t remember where they are. I think I should be able to get the needed supplies at Lowes.

Also Looking for recommendations on a floor jack for the ES.  It seems that many of the automotive ones are too big or cumbersome to get under the main wheels.  I don’t know about jacking the nose up?  How is that done.  I was told you can lift from under the firewall.

Lastly, is there an affordable motorized tow bar that works with the nose wheel fairing for the ES.

Thanks all.
