I ran down the info on the FAA forum I attended at Oshkosh on "Certification of Amateur Built Aircraft". It was given by Richard Mileham of the FAA. I talked with him today and he mentioned FAR 45.13 above. He also mentioned AC 20-27D "Certification and Operation of Amateur -Built Aircraft", paragraph 6, part b.("--- it is strongly recommended that FAA-approved components and established aircraft quality materials be used --") for a justification on not removing the engine maneplate. He seems to be very helpful and welcomes any calls for further information. His number is 847-294-7623. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
