The NLF variant airfoil on the Lancair aircraft don't seem to mind a narrow
(1") tape on the wing Leading Edge as long as it is a thin tape, I've never
experienced any problems with the tape except that it yellows due to UV.
Keep it as narrow as possible to avoid tripping the boundary layer.
The wing I mentioned earlier (early EZE) was considered a "critical airfoil"
and as such was subject to degredation of lift from simple bug impingement,
and even worse it was intolerant of rain...
