Lancair has told me that over the past year approximately 50% of the planes
they have sold have had all electric systems (alternator and standby
alternator) rather than an alternator and a vacuum pump.

To me the all electric option is attractive but before I proceed with my
order I would like to ask your opinions.

Is it better?
Is it safer? especially under IFR?
Does the FAA have any problems with one using it under IFR?
Is it costlier?

Many thanks to those who responded to my question about 12v or 24v electrical
systems.
