Ed,
Congratulations on your first flight!I am sure that was a thrill to
experience and made all the building worthwhile.
As for your fuel control, I have no words of wisdom. But I may be able to
offer some thoughts on the prop / governor problem.
I fired up my IO-360 for the first time last weekend (that was a big
milestone too!). I have and MT-12B prop too, and experienced some of the
same issues that you did. I also had disassembled my prop governor
faceplate. A couple of my observations:
1. first run-up, only got 2350 RPM
2. read the MT manual which said 100 RPM below max for static run-up... so I
adjusted the nut on the front of the prop 1/2 turn, and also made a few
tweaks to the engine
3. got plenty of RPM after those changes
4. the MT manual also said something about a certain amount of travel on the
prop control should cause a certain RPM drop... I can't remember the exact
numbers, but maybe the ADJUSTMENT of the governor is off for what the MT
specs require
5. I thought it doesn't make any difference how the prop governor is put
back (in terms of rotation) because it is a plunger type of action?
Good luck, and you may want to call MT - I have found them to be very
helpful.
Matt
