I have the three-light unit that Lancair sells. Mine has been on the shelf for some time, so I followed the instructions for reforming the capacitors (run for 15 min. at 75% of the normal voltage). If you use it for a 2-light system, you can set it up for simultaneous or alternating flashing of the 2 wing strobes. The specifications say that the unit outputs 22 joules each to the wing strobes and 44 joules to the tail strobe. I have found that if I set the system up for alternate flashing of the 2 wing strobes -- one strobe plugged into a "wing" receptacle, and one plugged into the "tail" receptacle -- the strobe plugged into the "tail" receptacle flashes noticeably brighter that the other one (same happens if I switch to the other "wing" receptacle). Is this normal? Apparently, you don't get 44 joules out of the "wing" outputs if you use only one of them. Is it normal when you set up this unit for alternating flashing to have one of the wing strobes flashing at 22 joules and one at 44 joules, or is there something wrong with my unit? Thanks.
