I say yes, but away from the wheel well would be better, because the flow
should change quite a bit as all that stuff starts hanging out. I did a
little airfoil research on Jim's behalf several years ago when he was
developing this gizmo. I don't see any problems with your suggested
placement, but the farther you are from the wheel well, the better. BL50 is
still pretty close.
Could you put this in your aileron bellcrank bay? It can go aft of the front
spar, in my opinion. Anywhere up to 40% of the way back from the leading
edge, as I recall. Just put it up near the from part of the aileron bay, if
you can.
Having said that, Jim has done all the flight testing and his word should
supercede mine. I just looked at wind tunnel data. Jim has real flight
experience, which is far more valuable.
