As part of my first flight preparations we lubricated the rudder cables. My
test pilot ( Len Fox ) felt the rudders were a bit stiff.
Using a syringe we injected "creeping oil" into both ends of the cable. At
the pedals and at the rudder end. When that improved it, we furthur
injected into the vinyl tubing at a few points along the run of the tubing.
( Puncturing the tubing wall with the syringe).
So far its only continued to get better with use and is a LOT better then it
was before the lubrication. So far I've only got about 60 hours on 320KB,
but the creeping oil hasn't caused any problems. I have no idea what type
of creeping oil was involved as I was not in my shop at the time, it was
certainly nothing I've ever seen before.
It wasn't really difficult, but certainly more work then initially
lubricating the cables would have been.
