DO NOT go thru the cladding on alclad! Clean with soap and water like 409, etc. Rub hard with a soft cloth using phosphoric acid (AlumaPrep) until water sheets... no beads allowed. Rinse well and alodyne using fresh mix. Alodyne will die with age and contamination. The part should turn gold in just a minute or so. Do not rub the part as you will rub off the powder coating the alodyne leaves on the metal. Alodyne's purpose is to help paint adhere to the metal. Rinse well and dry thoroughly. Prime with two part epoxy primer containing zinc chromate (DuPont Variprime 625S). Top coat with two part urethane such as Imron. Your parts will have ten to fifteen years life before filiform corosion will set in. Or, find someone to anodize those six foot pp tubes... By the way, etch and alodyne pp tubes inside and seal them with paint or proseal so water cannot get inside. That is how it's done at the big boys on C and D checks.
